WTB Bring us their Proterra Wheels

WTB (United States) - Press Release: WTB’s all-new Proterra wheels provide dependable performance without breaking the bank to achieve it. Top-tier sealed bearings, a responsive 6-pawl freehub and 3.7 degrees of engagement provide the look, sound and feel you expect of a high-end tubeless wheelset. We realize that “high-end” can often result in longterm frustration, which is why Proterra wheels utilize the simplicity of double butted J-bend spokes and Sapim secure lock nipples, are serviceable without fancy tools and don’t require a proprietary tubeless valve to hold air.

Proterra Light wheels feature an open-cavity rim design and are available in 23, 25 and 27mm widths, which make them an excellent upgrade for any gravel steed or lightweight trail bike. Proterra Tough wheels feature our unique I-Beam support and are available solely in a 30mm width to maximize tire volume and increase sidewall support on enduro bikes.

You shouldn’t need to count your pennies in order to ride dependable products, which is why every Proterra front wheel retails for $294.95 while all rear wheels retail for $354.95. That’s right…$649.90 gets you a complete wheelset that looks, sounds and performs just like the wheelset your buddy spent his savings on.

Built in California:

Every Proterra wheel is hand built in our California wheel building facility at the base of Mount Tamalpais, where mountain biking all began. Our team of wheel wizards laces, tensions and tapes every Proterra with the same attention to detail they provide their own wheels. This hands-on approach allows us to confidently stand behind our wheels as the most reliable on the market.

Nimble yet dependable:

Rims are extruded from our premier 6069 aluminum alloy, which blends strength, lifespan and resilience for the years ahead. Proterra wheels provide the compliance you expect during the first ride and the longevity you demand for every ride that follows.

Proterra Light wheels are built with alloy nipples in order to minimize rotational weight, while Proterra Tough wheels feature the unbeatable durability of brass nipples.

We realize that “high-end” can often result in longterm frustration, which is why Proterra wheels utilize the simplicity of double butted J-bend spokes and Nyloc nipples, are serviceable without fancy tools and don’t require a proprietary tubeless valve to hold air.

TCS 2.0:

Introduced in 2018, TCS 2.0 is a sealant-based tubeless system that improves upon the foundation of WTB’s legendary TCS (Tubeless Compatible System). The integral component of TCS 2.0 is the unique Solid Strip, which lies beneath the tubeless tape to prevent the tape from sagging at the spoke holes and creating a consistently smooth interface between the rim and tire bead. This prevents air from escaping around the bead and therefore requires less air volume and pressure to mount a tire. The Solid Strip also protects the airtight tubeless system from being punctured by a broken spoke pushing through the tape.
