The Giro Tyrant MIPS® Helmet - Designed to Meet the Needs of Today’s Progressive Trail Riders

Giro (United States) - Press Release: Introducing the Tyrant.

The Tyrant™ MIPS® helmet is designed to meet the needs of today’s progressive trail riders. Equally at home on forest singletrack as it is at the dirt jumps, Tyrant’s attitude ushers in the modern era of mountain biking. While the style is understated, Tyrant boasts countless under-the-hood tech breakthroughs including Wind Tunnel™ Ventilation and MIPS Spherical technology. MIPS Spherical utilizes a pair of foam layers that work like a ball and socket to redirect impact energy in a crash. One layer is EPS, which is well suited to high-speed crashes. The other is a lower density EPP foam with rebound characteristics to address low-speed, roll-around-in-the-dirt-type spills. The added coverage of this “full cut” design further enhances protective capability, while taking helmet design in a new direction for riders seeking style over speed.

Under the hood tech:

Adjustable Visor:

Adjust your visor in a flash with a single hand… This allows the visor to be up and out of the way to store goggles, to block the sun (or roost) or get that “just right” look that you’ve been striving to achieve. Unlike some helmets, there are no preset heights, so riders can micro-adjust without concern for a crooked visor.

Roc Loc DH Fit System:

Tyrant relies on a rugged fit system called Roc Loc DH. This fit system has an easy-to-grip dial that actually gets more grippy when it’s sweaty. Roc Loc DH allows vertical tuning as well so you can fine tune fit in a way that makes Tyrant so comfortable, you’ll forget you’re wearing it.

Adjustable cheek pads:

Believe it or not, people have different shaped faces. Even though your friends probably don’t call you Chubby Cheeks, you might still want the slimmer pads to achieve the best fit. Luckily Tyrant ships with two sets of pads so you can customize fit.

Dual Density Foam:

Because of MIPS Spherical, we’re able to utilize two different foam densities and address virtually any kind of crash you encounter. One layer is EPS which is well suited to high-speed crashes. The other is a lower density EPP foam with rebound characteristics that addresses the more common, low-speed, roll-around-in-the-dirt-type spills.
