Team Sky to Partner with gebioMized for Rider Biometrics

Team Sky (United Kingdom) - Team Sky have agreed a Technical Partnership with cycling biomechanic experts gebioMized to enhance rider performance for 2019.

The partnership will see the German-based company advise the team on bike fitting, biomechanics support and custom insoles for the 2019 season. All Team Sky riders will also reap the benefits of the innovative pressure mapping systems developed by gebioMIzed.

Having worked with gebioMized in the build-up to the team’s 2018 Tour de France success, as well as during the team's training and preparation camps, Head of Technical Operations & Commercial, Carsten Jeppesen, is excited about seeing the partnership continue to flourish in 2019.

“As a team we are constantly looking for ways to improve and evolve, to ensure the best training and racing environment for our riders,” he said.

“gebioMized have assisted us in a number of aspects linked to biomechanics, including work around injury prevention, which we’ve already really benefitted from.

“This agreement with gebioMized is a logical step forward for us, as we aim for another successful year on the road in 2019.”

gebioMized was founded in 2005 and is dedicated to cycling biomechanics, with a focus on the development and distribution of innovative technologies for bike fitting. Their portfolio includes products which measure and visualise the pressure distribution at all contact points between rider and bike. The company also develops and produces cycling saddles and custom cycling insoles.

Having worked with four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome in particular at close quarters in recent months, gebioMized’s Daniel Schade is pleased to be working with Team Sky again in 2019, commenting: “It’s an honour to be working with Team Sky. This collaboration is a natural next step for our relationship with the team.

“The team ride with first-class conditions at the highest level, but there is always potential for optimisation in the finer details, which is where we’re excited to develop our relationship with the team.

“We are all looking forward to working together this season and are extremely eager to see what we can achieve together.”

Froome, who is busy preparing for the 2019 season at present, added: “gebioMized have been great to work with in recent months and I’m really pleased they’ll continue to be working with us this season.

“Those small optimisations of the riding position, which is where they excel, can make all the difference, so it’s great that they’re on board with us for 2019.”
