Soma Fabrications (USA) – Soma Fabrication's steel frames have always been designed to be backwards compatible with legacy technology, because they know many of us have old parts sitting in the garage. Their current 29er hardtail still accommodates 135mm hubs and 1-1/8" steerer tubes. Their road and touring frames still have mounts for downtube shifters.
The new Valhallen sidesteps that philosophy and easily is their most thoroughly trail-oriented design to date. It features Boost spacing, room for 27.5 x 3.2" tires and a long and slack geometry designed for a 140mm travel fork. It uses a 31.6mm seatpost instead of their usual 27.2mm to provide the customer more choices for dropper seatposts. It is designed for 1X Boost, but has room for small double chainring combos.
As with Soma's other models, it uses Tange brand heat treated chromoly steel tubing.
It will be available to retailers and distributors in mid-September in Candy Apple Green or Hyper Gray Metallic.
