Silverback Announces Stride SX

Silverback Bikes (Germany) - Press Release: The Stride range has been a long-standing staple in the Silverback line-up. Stride was a commuting bike designed to offer a good quality frame with reliable parts at an affordable price. This it did very well. Competing with generic department store bikes and prices, the Stride offered proprietary ISO tested frames, step-up in material quality and branded components across the range. Recent years Stride has evolved and moved to disc brakes and tubeless rims.

Then the product team sat down to discuss the upcoming range.

The engineers penned a wish list of what a BIC (Best In Class) entry to mid-level MTB should be. A New hydroformed alloy frame with modern geometry, tubeless wheels and tyres, internal routing, dropper post compatibility, a 1x drivetrain and a reliable complete build. Silverback's Advanced Riding Dynamics (ARD)

Enter Stride SX:

Seen as the flagship of the Stride range, Stride SX is designed to be a proper mountain bike, a pocket-friendly entry into the world of trails and loam.

FRAME FOCUS:

The new Stride range features an all-new hydroformed 6061 hardtail alloy frame with internal routing, including full-length internal dropper post compatibility. In the interest of maintenance, easier brake setup and reliability, the rear brake cable is run externally on the downtube.

Geometry on the Stride has been updated to fall in line with our POP geometry. 'Power Over the Pedals' or 'Position Of Power' geometry. The geometry starts off with a steeper seat angle, placing the rider forward over the pedals, engaging the glute muscles when pedaling, a larger muscle group than conventional geometry utilizes. This means stronger pedal strokes and easier, more effective climbing. POP geometry also includes a lower stand over height, longer reach with a shorter stem, and a slacker head angle & short chainstays that improve handling and traction both up and down on both front and rear wheels.

Stride SX is available in two different wheel options to suit riding preferences and rider size (seen as two different product lines running parallel). 27.5" line catering for the younger/smaller riders, starting at size XS.  29" starts from Small and goes to XXL.

The Stride frame is a very good starting point for a versatile alloy hardtail build that would not look out of place on the trails, your daily commute or on the starting line of an XC race.

The frame is lightweight, featuring a threaded BB and tapered headtube for wide fork compatibility. The frame is designed to also cater for commuters, touring and bikepackers alike, with rack and fender mounts, two water bottle mounts and a kickstand mount integrated into the chainstay.

The fit and finish on the frame is spot on, matte paint with durable water transfer decals complements the tubeset and sets the tone for the SX's intended use.

SX Eagle: 11-50t cassette with a 32T front chainring.

SR Suntour's remote lockout lever is easy to use and slick on the bars.

FORK:

Part of SB's ARD formula means that we carefully select the touchpoints on our bikes, making sure that the necessary bits are up to standard, to give the rider the best possible riding experience.

An SR Suntour Raidon XC-RLR air fork is an easy to set up & adjust, lightweight suspension fork that also features a handlebar remote lockout. 100mm of travel and 32mm Stanchions means that the fork is stiff, improving steering accuracy and suspension action for a more compliant ride over technical terrain.

DRIVETRAIN:

Stride SX, the flagship Stride is adorned with the functional and desirable brand spanking new SRAM SX Eagle 1 x 12spd groupset with an 11-50t gear range. Eagle is the benchmark for 12 speed drivetrains, and the wide gear ratio caters for climbing and descending more so that classic 3x groupsets. The added benefits of 12speed groupsets include simplicity, fewer components and consequently less maintenance and weight, with less downtime, ultimately a more pleasant ownership and riding experience.

WHEELS:

At this price range wheels are not often mentioned in a positive light, but 23.5mm Surface 6061 Asymmetric Alloy tubeless wheels are something to talk about. The pre-taped alloy wheelset weighs in at a combined weight of 1834g and even comes with a pair of tubeless valves (in the box) and 2.25" Maxxis Crossmark II tubeless ready tyres. Add sealant, inflate. It's really that easy.

3-cross Laced with stainless spokes to 32h Shimano Centerlock hubs, these wheels are designed for a max rider weight of up to 120kg.

The custom profile, pinned, asymmetric rims are designed to optimize stress dissipation. In plain English - stronger wheels that handle stress and impacts better.

BRAKES:

Confidence aboard your bike has plenty to do with how quickly and how controlled you can bring it to a standstill. Good brakes means enough power to stop you when going really fast- in any weather condition, on any terrain, and to give you good control, not just lock up under braking. Then to add to an already challenging list; 'great to have's' include positive lever feel, adjustability, readily available replacement pads, and ease of maintenance. Stride SX features Tektro MD-M275 hydraulic disc brakes on 180mm F /160mm R Centerlock rotors. Check, check and check.

CONTROL PARTS:

The Stride SX is finished in an all-alloy control part package with an anodized seatpost, oversized handlebar/stem and even alloy platform pedals. The saddle is a comfortable Surface trail Saddle with steel rails and the handlebar grips are colour coded Single density Gel SBC grips.

RIDER BENEFITS:

The Stride SX is designed to be a gateway. Random as that may sound, the SX is designed to be a rider, young or old's entry to the world of racing, the experience of trails and introduction to quality bicycles. With Silverback's ethos, you are sure to get the best possible bike for your money, without having to compromise on quality.

Falling in love with the sport is just a quick adventure away.
