The bar for the lightest rigid mountain bike in the world was already high, but Mondraker and the Dream Build channel on YouTube raised the challenge, creating a machine that redefines the limits of weight and engineering.

An Ambitious Engineering

Building the lightest rigid mountain bike in the world is a project that demands excellence in engineering, design, and planning. Every gram counts, and the process requires a meticulous approach in selecting materials and components. However, the goal was not just to create a lightweight bike; it had to maintain the robustness and performance required by modern trails, a true balance between lightness and functionality.

With the reputation of the Dream Build channel, known for its impressive projects, and the collaboration with the Spanish brand Mondraker, the goal was not only to break records but also to ensure that the bike was fully functional on technical and demanding trails.

Although the focus was on reducing weight, the bike's ability to tackle the toughest trails was not sacrificed. Components such as the 740mm handlebar and the FOX 32 Float SC Factory suspension were kept to ensure quality riding, even knowing they could be replaced to save a few extra grams.

At the heart of the build is the Mondraker Podium RR SL frame in Stealth carbon, an impressive piece of engineering. Originally weighing 840.4 grams (painted), the frame went through a weight-relief process by Mondraker's "Blue Lab" team in Alicante. The removal of the factory paint resulted in a frame weighing only 697.7 grams. To protect the raw material and make it functional on real trails, a light layer of paint and lacquer weighing 34.5 grams was applied, resulting in a final weight of 732.2 grams.

With a total weight of just 5.68 kg, including the pedals, the bike is a dream for lightweight enthusiasts and a true design spectacle. High-performance components such as the FOX 32 Float SC Factory suspension with a machined lattice reinforcement, the Grigio Carbonio carbon fiber crankset, and a Shimano XTR derailleur modified with HOPP carbon parts complement the frame.

The bike also includes a Darimo T1 Loop seatpost, PORTE wheels with Extralite hubs, Trickstuff Piccola Carbon brakes, and a GELU K-4 MTB saddle. Even the seat clamp weighs only 4 grams, demonstrating the attention to detail.
