MDE New Enduro / AllMountain Frame: Damper 2020

MDE New Enduro / AllMountain Frame: Damper 2020

MDE Bikes (Italy) - Press Release: MDEbikes introduces the brand new Enduro / AllMountain frame, with new I-LINK 2.0 suspension, new design, new pivot and oversized bearings; more rigid, lighter and more performing. MDE's goal is to make the best Enduro / Am aluminum frame on the market. It can be ordered immediately on the new website; deliveries starting by the end of September / early October, it is available both 29 "wheels version and 27.5" wheels version.

In re-design the new suspension all the points of the virtual pivot system were repositioned and the change was so great that in the end it was decided to rename the system to I-link 2.0. A first goal was to obtain space for a classic bottle cage position, above the down tube.

The second goal, achieved with the new suspension design, has been to get the chainstays length shorter by 5mm: the new values are 439mm for 29 "and 425mm for the 27.5". The new suspension proved to be even more stable in pedaling than the previous one which was already excellent, it also has better progressiveness due to a plush effect in increased absorption while maintaining a remarkable reactivity. The dimensions of the pivot axles have been increased and the new oversized bearings made on MDE specifications by the American Enduro Bearings have been introduced, which guarantee a greater rigidity and resistance without increasing weight. Both suspension links have been redesigned with the lower one shorter and compact and the upper one with an open design that embraces the vertical tube. All the swingarm has been revised with new CNC parts and new, more linear and lighter lines tubes. The new swingarm’s design has been optimized to ensure a better cleaning and mud removal. The front triangle tubes are also completely redesigned and made by hydroforming. A new tapered head tube with zero stack standard is introduced both above (44mm) and below (56mm) and a new zero stack headset built with increased driving tolerance to ensure a perfect and durable fit. The new front triangle design with the tapered and more linear top tube has saved over 150g of the entire structure. The new frame is therefore around 150 / 200g lighter compared to the previous one based on the size. Mde also introduces a new system for the shock absorber fitting to the rear swingarm with a special bracket that clamps the shock absorber and that connects to the rear swingarm via two bearings; this allows a better fluidity and a longer life. This shock link is available in two sizes and allows you to mount shocks with different lengths: 230mm metric or 216mm standard.

About geometry, MDE has defined two versions: 29 "version and 27.5" version. In the first case the new frame signs a further evolution of the modern geometries for enduro frames with 29" wheels with an even more vertical saddle tube angle (77.9 °) which guarantees exceptional behavior on climbing uphill in combination with the very stable I-link 2.0 suspension; lengths of the top tube and Reach stretched but not exceeding; head tube angle of 65.5 °, BB drop 22mm for BB height of 349mm. With new head tube it is possible to have a smaller stack length, being more compact to the advantage of precision and manageable. The 27.5 has a seat tube angle of 76.5 °, similar reach and top tubes with a little bit more slack head tube angle of 65 ° and a BB heigth of 342mm.

The 29 "can also be fitted with a 27.5" rear wheel, to get a more race oriented geometry.

We remind that MDE offers the Rider tuned geometry service that allows, when ordering, to request custom made geometry. The service price is 150 euros and it allows to set geometry of the frame in order to fit your needs; lots of customizations of colors are also available; for the frame painting, for the decals and the cnc details: everything can be easily selected during the order through the new on-line configurator that has been completely revised and updated.

With the new Damper, MDE also introduces a new rubber frame protection series (chain and frame protectors) made by 3D printing tecnology and the result of the experience made by the company over the last year in the use of this technology.

What has been new in the Damper 2020:

  • New and completely redesigned i-link 2.0 suspension system
  • New main pivot axles and screws with dimensions increased: were 12.7mm in diameter now are 15mm
