LOOK revealed the New 795 Light RS and 795 Aerolight RS Road Bikes
LOOK (France) – According to LOOK, "The new 795 Light RS and Aerolight RS is the most advanced aero-road bicycles with respect to integration and reflects more than 30 years of LOOK engineer know-how and expertise. It is exemplified by a perfect command of geometric frame design, choice of tube thickness and the assembly of the carbon materials used in the manufacturing process".

These new versions that incorporates comfort as a true performance factor benefits from 5 major developments:
  • New cable routing to facilitate assembly and maintenance
  • New 100% carbon bottom bracket for more rigidity
  • New E-Post 2 Evo
  • New Di2 cover for an easier connection
  • New ADH2 handlebar with integrated Quick Release

795 RS Aero Technology:

Tested in a wind tunnel, the 795 has been entirely designed to achieve the best of its aerodynamic tube shapes as defined by the NACA (National Aerospace Committee for Aeronautics). Its NACA profile is perfect on all the tubes cut horizontally in relation to the ground, which allows the 795 AEROLIGHT RS to benefit from an aerodynamic gain of 11.7% as compared to a traditional racing bicycle (type 695). This represents a 1min 14s gain on a 100km ride on a track.

Integration Technology:
"Designing a bicycle at LOOK does not mean building a frame, then the components. The creation of a LOOK carbon bicycle is seen as a whole, where the components are thought out and crafted to blend with the frame. Each element that is connected to the frame must be able to improve the performance of the bicycle. From this integration has come an elegant design and the fluid lines that LOOK knows how to master", explained LOOK.

HM Carbon 1,5K Technology:
HM: High Modulus. "High-end" fibers. Their stiffness is very high, on average double that of HR fibers. The HM fibers permit more rigidity without the added weight. LOOK bicycles are made with either HM 3K or 1.5K fibers, the latter having a finer weave and therefore lighter (ie. a 1.5 fiber = 1500 threads in 1 fiber). "For over 30 years, LOOK has developed a unique expertise and an exceptional experience that allows the combining of different types of fibers to achieve specific characteristics. LOOK master the parameters of carbon composition in order to produce the desired behavior", shared the company.

New carbon bottom bracket and ZED 3 crankset:
The bottom bracket is made entirely of carbon and its bearings are positioned on a carbon flange integrated directly into the frame, guaranteeing its rigidity and reliability. The 100% carbon monobloc ZED 3 crankset benefits from an unequalled power/weight ratio. The length of the crankarms is adjustable thanks to a trilobe nut. Aerodynamic and very rigid, it is also extremely light: 360 gr (crankarms + axle + carbon spider – without chainring).

Its crankarm length can be adjusted to either 170mm, 172mm or 175mm.

New E-Post 2 Evo Seatpost:

The E-POST 2 EVO seatpost allows a large range of fore-and-aft adjustment and evolves regarding its new clamping system and how it is secured in the frame. A "tightening wedge" provides powerful support of the seatpost in the frame. An outer elastomer enables the seatpost to filter vibrations and improve rider comfort even more.

Aerostem:
The Aerostem is made of HM carbon. It is Aerodynamic and may be inverted, offering a large amount of versatility. Its range varies from -13° and +17°, allowing cyclists to achieve the lowest to highest positions: Six lengths are available, from 80mm to 130mm, in 10mm increments. "Rigid, it provides an excellent piloting position. Weighing a meager 149g, the Aerostem is an excellent choice for a lightweight stem", added LOOK.

New Di2 Cover for an easier connection:
The Di2 junction box is still fitted in the frame via a small cover located just beyond the stem, but this cover has been redesigned to allow the junction box to be clipped directly onto its underside. This way, all the Di2 functions are accessible from the external face of the cover making it no longer necessary to have to physically remove it. Recharging the battery is also a snap thanks to this design improvement.

New ADH2 Handlebar with Integrated Quick Release:
This new version incorporates rapid brake quick release levers (opening and closing of the calipers) for repairs, wheel changes or when adjusting the brake pads due to wear. Adjusting the integrated brakes is easier and more accessible, even while riding the bicycle. The handlebar has space on either side of the stem that measures 31.8 mm in diameter, enabling the installation of armrests and aero bars to adopt an even more aerodynamic riding position, or the mounting of a computer or camera. According to LOOK, "The aerodynamic design of the handlebar has been optimized to give the cyclist more space when pedaling out of the saddle, therefore, avoiding any risk of contact between the cyclist’s knees and the back of the handlebars".

Direct Drive Concept:
The LOOK « Direct Drive Concept » is the optimization of all the parameters that make up the cockpit. This is notably done through the integration of the stem, as an extension of the bicycle itself, and also by the use of a short and tapered headset. The total of these factors provide an excellent rigidity that is necessary for an optimal piloting position.

795 Aerolight RS - New Cable Routing for an exceptionally smooth headset:

The new optimized cable routing allows the cables to enter directly into the frame via a rotating piece that is part of the headset, improving performance in terms of steering precision. The cables, and their entry into the frame, turn freely with the handlebar, thus relieving any tension in the headset due to housing stiffness. The front brake cable no longer passes through the stem, making it possible to change the stem without needing to disconnect the front brake. The rear brake cables pass through the down tube and exit before the bottom bracket by a trapdoor that is wide enough to facilitate bicycle assembly.

795 Aerolight RS - Aerobrake Brakes:

Keeping aerodynamics in mind, LOOK integrated its trademarked V-style front brake into the fork itself. The flow of air is thus facilitated compared to a traditional post mounted caliper brake.
