Job Offer By International Mountain Bicycling Association - Trail Solutions Planner (Remote)

International Mountain Bicycling Association (United States) - The position of Trail Solutions Production Planner will work with Trail Solutions Project Managers, Senior Planners, and Trail Solutions Directors supporting the development of trail feasibility studies and concept plans, design development deliverables, construction documents, and support tasks related to project implementation and community outreach.

Overall Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Project mapping data acquisition, creation, and management including GIS, CAD, GPS, and Adobe based data.
  • Support the creation of trail network and bike park concepts and design development
  • Planning map graphic creation
  • Production of design development and construction documents
  • Meet the performance goals established by IMBA’s leadership
  • Attend required company and departmental meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Technical Competencies:

  1. Data Collection: Ability to research, analyze and evaluate a variety of references and resources. Effectively organizes information and data in a useful manner.
    1. Understands how to utilize GIS/CAD data
    2. Knows what sources to use for data collection
    3. Recognizes quality and flawed data
    4. Efficiently compiles necessary data
  2. Graphic Design: Understanding of graphic design principles with ability to implement in projects to display information effectively and pleasingly.
    1. Understands placement of text & images within a product
    2. Uses principles and elements of design when placing text or images
    3. Utilizes scales with accuracy
    4. Competent in use of design softwares
  3. Production Based: Demonstrated ability to operate in a deliverable based environment meeting deadlines and quality expectations.
    1. Displays motivation to complete tasks
    2. Understands influence of one’s own work on others’ tasks
  4. Theory Understanding: A foundational understanding of Trail System Planning theory, and other theories related to the effective development of sustainable trails.
    1. Understands the jargon of trail development
    2. Communicates viewpoints supported by theory
    3. Seeks out continued education
    4. Knowledge of and implementation of best practices for sustainable trails
  5. Field Proficiency: Serves as an asset when in the field with ability to ground truth previous data and gather additional accurate and useful data.
    1. Ability to interpret landscapes
    2. Acknowledges discrepancies between data and ground realities
    3. Gather & organize accurate and useful data
    4. Supports decision making by providing recommendations with solid reasoning
    5. Responsible for one's own well-being when in the field, plan food and water needs accordingly.
    6. Physical capability to transport necessary equipment through various terrain and climatic conditions
    7. Knowledge of safety measures and backcountry protocol

Requirements:

  • Two (2) to Four (4) years of professional planning experience related to recreation based projects and site design
  • Education Experience
    • Preferred to have Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in an appropriate field of Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, or similar
    • At a minimum a technical college certificate in CAD and GIS
  • Highly skilled in GIS (ArcGIS Pro), CAD, and Adobe Suite (InDesign and Illustrator)
  • Experience and familiarity with creating and producing construction documents
  • Experience with GPS tools, data collection, and post processing
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Mountain Biking and Travel Experience
  • Potential to travel 50% of the time
