Cane Creek (United States) - The Manufacturing Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and improving quality and manufacturing processes in Cane Creek’s operations. The Manufacturing Quality Engineer will continually seek opportunities to increase the efficiency of manufacturing operations and processes and will be responsible for supporting all operational related needs. He/she is responsible for the engineering support of all technical engineering projects and ensuring that Cane Creek products continue to set and advance the industry standards and benchmarks. The Manufacturing Quality Engineer is responsible for managing and continuously improving the quality program.

 Responsibilities Include:   

  • Oversee incoming parts inspection
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce quality standards for all vendors
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain on vendor report cards
  • Develop/design in-house production tools/fixtures
  • Address and mitigate any internal quality issues and any external quality issues involving vendors and customer concerns.
  • Establish quality “behavior/procedure” standards for in-house production
  • Determine and implement techniques to improve in-house operations (not just production but shipping, receiving, warehouse too) effectiveness and efficiency
  • Design and lead quality improvement initiatives
  • Develop, validate and implement design or process improvements to existing products for performance and reliability improvements
  • Ensure quality is baked into new product development – Quality Assurance
  • Ensure design engineers are the last resort for addressing production and quality issues
  • Collaborate with design engineers to design lab tests that ensure optimal quality
  • Works with engineering in creation of service documents used in the field to troubleshoot common issues
  • Determine, mine, and present quality metrics for vendors and incoming parts on a monthly basis
  • Work with engineering to determine quality requirements and inspection procedures both in Taiwan and in house for new products. This should include inventory of gauges, mating parts, etc needed both in house and at the vendor
  • Responsible for maintaining R&D and quality inspection equipment
  • Serve as a technical resource to other departments
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

A four year degree is preferred but candidates with a proven track record will be considered. The successful candidate should be familiar with Lean Manufacturing methods and be able to utilize lean tools to perform continuous improvement programs. Job roles include but are not limited to dealing with complexity, communication, leadership, and supervision. A broad understanding of cycle times, time studies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), process control and internal corrective action is beneficial. The Manufacturing Quality Engineer must be a self-starter willing to wear many hats and able to excel in a low-structure, highly dynamic work environment.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing, quality or process improvement role
  • Ability to identify risk or areas for improvement and independently implement corrective action
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strive for improvement
  • Extreme proficiency in MS Office, Google Apps, Solidworks
  • Experience with ERP systems
