Norco Bicycles (Canada) - Press Release: We’re proudly celebrating that Norco athletes Jill Kintner and Norco Factory Racing’s Sam Blenkinsop have proven themselves to be the most dominant and versatile riders in the world by winning the overall titles of King and Queen of Crankworx.
Sam started the year off strong with a win at the Redwoods DH at Crankworx Rotorua, and continued to rack up the points all the way to the final event of the Crankworx season – the Canadian Open DH in Whistler, BC. The dry summer heat and smoky conditions did little to dissuade Blenki, who’s signature flat-out and drifty style is well suited to the Whistler dust. Sam has had an amazing season aboard his new Aurum HSP, and with a third place finish at the Canadian Open he clinched the Crankworx Downhill Champion title as well as the overall King of Crankworx.
Pump Track hero Jill Kintner put together a tremendous season of wins and cemented her victory with a strong finish at the Pump Track Challenge under camera flashes and cheers of the Whistler crowds.
Her second place finish, combined with a season of exceptional results, meant that Jill walked away with both the Pump Track World Championship and the prestigious Queen of Crankworx title.
For the second year in a row, Norco team riders have captured both King and Queen titles. Jill’s attention to detail and rigorous training have paid dividends once again, and we know that her dedication will continue to put her at the top of her field. This is Sam’s first year as King of Crankworx, but with all the strong finishes this season, we expect this is only the first of many!
From all of us at Norco Bicycles, congratulations to Sam and Jill! Long live the King and Queen!
