Introducing: All-New Giant Revolt Advanced Pro and Revolt Advanced!

Giant Bicycles (Taiwan) - Giant has introduced a new generation of its Revolt composite gravel bikes, the Revolt Advanced Pro and Revolt Advanced. Both series feature significantly lighter framesets with updated geometry designed to boost speed and efficiency on rough roads, gravel and dirt.

The new Revolts come with a host of breakthrough technologies including a flip chip rear dropout that lets riders adjust the wheelbase to fine-tune the bike’s handling for different riding styles and terrain.

Giant engineers and product developers worked with athletes from the Giant Factory Off-Road Team to develop the new Revolt Advanced Pro and Revolt Advanced models. Racers including Josh Berry—a former winner of the Belgian Waffle Ride and podium finisher at Unbound Gravel—helped target specific ways to boost performance for pro-level gravel competition. Over the past year, Berry and several teammates tested prototype models at various races around the U.S. including Rebecca’s Private Idaho.

“Gravel racing has become more aggressive, and this new Revolt is helping us push the limits of what we are capable of,” Berry said. “Rolling on a bike that is much lighter than the race bike I was on last year is a real pleasure. Now I find myself jumping in the local group road ride then taking trails home. It’s a lot more enjoyable now with improved handling and a more efficient pedaling response.”

It was the demand for a competitive edge by racers like Berry, combined with a goal of having wide-ranging capabilities for various styles of gravel riding, that led the development process of the new Revolt. The end result is a next-generation gravel machine that marks a huge leap forward in efficiency, control and adaptability to variable riding styles and terrain.

Lightweight efficiency:

The flagship model of the new range is the new Revolt Advanced Pro, the lightest Revolt ever produced. An all-new Advanced-grade frame and Advanced SL composite fork save a combined 200 grams compared to the previous generation. The Revolt Advanced features the same frameset and an Advanced-grade composite fork, saving a combined 160g over the previous generation.

While it retains the smooth control on rugged terrain that Revolt is known for, this is a bike built for speed over the long haul. More than ever, it’s focused on efficiency and agility, equally adept at dirt road climbs, cornering at speed on loose gravel surfaces, and sprinting for the finish after long hours in the saddle.

Both new series have a shorter wheelbase and reduced fork trail, which gives the bike a more lively, responsive feel in a wide variety of riding conditions. Geometry updates also include a longer reach—now 387mm compared to 381mm on the previous generation for a medium size frame—and a 1-degree steeper head angle (71.5 degrees compared to 70.5 degrees). In addition, the bottom bracket has been lowered 10mm (80mm drop compared to 70mm).

Smooth compliance:

Every new Revolt has a lower seatstay junction with thinner diameter tubes to improve rear-end compliance without sacrificing stiffness while cornering, sprinting or climbing. Each model also comes with the latest D-Fuse seatpost technology to reduce shocks and vibrations on rough roads or dirt—while also offering the option to use a 30.9mm round seatpost. For anyone seeking maximum control on off-road terrain, that means you can now opt for a mountain bike style dropper seatpost.

Both the Revolt Advanced Pro and Revolt Advanced series include D-Fuse handlebars, with similar D-shaped tubing as the seatpost. The Revolt Advanced Pro models comes with the Giant Contact SLR XR D-Fuse composite handlebar, and the Revolt Advanced with the Contact XR D-Fuse aluminum bar. The handlebar works together with the seatpost to add compliance at two key contact points without the unwanted complexity or weight associated with pivots or inserts.

Adaptable to the terrain:

New Revolt models feature a new flip chip on the rear dropout that lets you adjust the wheelbase by 10mm. The short setting gives it a quicker, more agile feel, while the long setting improves stability on rougher roads, gravel and dirt. The long setting also provides more clearance for a larger diameter rear tire (up to 53mm compared to 42mm in the short setting) and extends fork trail by 4mm, which adds stability at higher speeds.

In addition to the new frameset, some key component updates add to the Revolt’s boost in performance. The Revolt Advanced Pro series comes with the latest D-Fuse seatpost technology, the composite D-Fuse SLR, which has a -5/+15mm offset option. The seatpost is secured with a hidden clamp inside the seat tube, allowing for 25 percent more flexing area to optimize its compliance.

Both series also feature composite Giant WheelSystems, including the all-new CXR 1 on the Revolt Advanced Pro models, along with tubeless tires set up right out of the box. Every available wheel setup ensures robust strength at a minimal weight, plus the ability to run high-volume tires at lower pressures for a smoother ride, better grip, and smooth rolling efficiency on variable terrain.

And to maximize the Revolt’s capabilities on long races or adventure rides, both series now include six water bottle mounts—two on the down tube, two on the fork, plus one each on the top tube and seat tube. The frameset also includes a special adaptor at the seatpost for mounting a rack and is fender compatible.

Gravel riding means different things to different people. Whether you’re aiming for the podium, attempting your first 100-miler on variable terrain, or planning a multi-day adventure on roads, gravel and dirt, the new Revolt range gives you the lightweight efficiency, smooth compliance and easy adjustability to make the most of your effort.
