Scott (Switzerland) - Press Release: The All-New Addict RC is the benchmark road bike when it comes to racing. Extremely light weight, our strongest carbon structure to date plus completely integrated cable routing and aero features make it a dream bike in every aspect. 

The all-new SCOTT Addict RC is designed to fit the needs of UCI World Tour-Team Mitchelton-SCOTT as well as ambitious everyday riders alike. Since its introduction back in 2008, the Addict RC has been one of the most successful competitive road bikes on the market. The new model ticks all the boxes – a new level of integration, more aerodynamic and an increase in stiffness while simultaneously getting significantly lighter. Climbing just got a little easier!

The new Addict RC is as complete as it gets when it comes to high-performance road bikes. Regardless of whether you're trying to win the biggest races on the planet, chasing a virtual segment or taking on your riding buddies on your local climb, the Addict RC makes it more likely that you will come out on top.

Integration:

The all new Addict RC has completely integrated cable routing for both mechanical and electronic shifting. This was achieved by our engineers without any compromise on shifting, braking quality or head tube stiffness. On top of that our internal design makes it is easy for mechanics to change cables and maintain the bike. From the beginning of the design process, the goal was to bring the integration of cable routing to a completely new level.  

The heart of the integration is the in-house developed and now patented “Eccentric Bicycle Fork Shaft.” The core of this innovation is that the rotational axis at the upper head set bearing has an offset of 3mm towards the rotational axis at the lower head set bearing. This combination of a 3mm offset 1⅟₄" fork steerer shaft inside a 1.5” top bearing provides enough space in front of the steerer to guide both mechanical and electronic shifting wires as well as both hydraulic hoses completely internally. On the bottom of the head tube the rotational axis of the fork is again concentric to the center of the bearing and leaves the steering of the bicycle unaffected. The result is a clean looking, fully integrated cockpit at all spec levels!

Light Weight and Stiffness:

Thanks to a combination of structural optimization and a sophisticated layering of ultra-high modulus carbon fibers along the "stiffness backbone" of the bicycle, we achieved a significant boost in bottom bracket stiffness. Furthermore the application of our advanced molding structure reduces the amount of bonding joints to a minimum while clean and smooth lines inside the frame create an outstandingly lightweight frame set.

Aerodynamics:

SCOTT’s patented airfoil design has been applied to the Addict's main tubes (down tube, head tube, seat tube, seat post, seat stays) with the goal of optimizing the airflow and reducing the overall drag. The lowered seat stays decrease the gap behind the seat tube and the seat stays avoiding air stagnation and consequently drag. Integrated cable routing not only makes for a clean and premium look, but also improves the airflow in the front.

Geometry:

The new Addict uses a race geometry that meets the requirements of both our professional riders and sportive customers who prefer a more aggressive position and a very direct handling bike. To make this possible we worked closely with our professionals at Mitchelton-SCOTT and one of the most decorated bike fitters, Radlabor. This partnership allowed us to evaluate thousands of positions to find the optimal one for performance-oriented riders.
