Bosch Presents New eBike ABS

Bosch Presents New eBike ABS
Bosch (Germany) – Pedelec riding is becoming even safer. Bosch, a leading provider of motorbike safety technology, is launching the first standard anti-lock braking system for pedelecs on the market in the form of Bosch eBike ABS.

Greater safety, improved stability:
Safety is a decisive factor for eBike riders and their environment. The world's first production-ready eBike ABS now enables controlled and stable braking, even in critical situations. Bosch eBike ABS uses proven technology for a new solution adapted to eBikes. Your safety is enhanced through the combination of front wheel ABS and rear wheel lift control. The pressure at the front brake is regulated during critical braking manoeuvres and stabilises the riding situation – an advantage particularly during trekking and city riding. Enjoy extended sporting tours, the cycle to work or a cruise in the country with added safety.

"The introduction of such a system can sustainably increase traffic safety" - Claus Fleischer - CEO Bosch eBike Systems

ABS for the front wheel:

Wheel speed sensors monitor the speed of both wheels. If locking of the front wheel is anticipated during severe braking, Bosch eBike ABS improves the riding stability and steerability of the eBike – especially under slippery road conditions. Harmonious and sensitive braking behaviour significantly increases control and safety.

Rear wheel lift control:

The intelligent rear wheel lift control of Bosch eBike ABS reduces the possibility of the rear wheel lifting when the front wheel brake is applied forcefully. The likelihood of flying over the handlebar is reduced. This enables you to use the front brake more actively and efficiently.

Market launch of Bosch eBike ABS - ABS for Performance Line Cruise and Speed:

The first eBikes with ABS will be on the road with selected fleet partners in the German speaking countries in 2017. Bosch eBike ABS will initially be used for the Performance Line Cruise and Speed in combination with Intuvia on trekking and city bikes with 28 inch tyres. Bosch eBike ABS will be available for purchase from autumn 2018. Long-term Bosch partner Magura is providing support as a development partner for brake technologies. As an expert with over 40 years of experience in ABS systems and market leader in motorbike safety systems, Bosch is now applying its expertise to pedelecs.
