AG2R La Mondiale and Eddy Merckx develop together their New Flagship Model

Eddy Merckx (Belgium) - The international launch will take place just ahead of the Tour de France.

During the next couple of weeks, the partnership between AG2R La Mondiale and Eddy Merckx will move into a new phase. The riders have been testing the Eddy Merckx 525 during their training rides and races. Now this feedback tour has been completed, the Belgian Cycling Factory R&D Department is brilliantly on schedule to perfect this newest flagship model before the start of the Tour de France in Brussels.

525 launch just ahead of Tour:

AG2R La Mondiale and Eddy Merckx signed their contract in November 2018. The intentions of the WorldTour team were clear: “Let us create, together, the ideal new flagship model which we can use in the Tour de France.”

This idea would form the foundation of the partnership between the team and Eddy Merckx. The team received the bikes in December, and intensive testing sessions during training camps and races began. Meanwhile, the team has been preparing to ride the Stockeu69, the ultimate Belgian Cycling Factory stiffness-to-weight race bike.

The Eddy Merckx 525 will be launched on 3 July in a unique location in Brussels, together with the riders of AG2R La Mondiale and Eddy Merckx. It comes just days ahead of the Grand Départ of the Tour de France in the Belgian capital city, honouring the 50th anniversary of Eddy Merckx’s first Tour victory.

First hard test:

Oliver Naesen and Silvan Dillier have already tested the Stockeu69 on the frozen cobbles of Hem in real Flandrien conditions.
