Pearl Izumi's New P.R.O. Leader V4 Road Cycling Shoes

Pearl Izumi's New P.R.O. Leader V4 Road Cycling Shoes
Pearl Izumi (Japan) – "We’ve updated our most advanced road shoe to fit even better. Our 1:1 Anatomic Interface improved the fit of the upper with an asymmetric closure and moved the placement of the Boa® to avoid sensitive tissue. Plus, electroplating the sole adds a unique flash of color to one of the lowest stack heights available in a cycling shoe", stated Pearl Izumi.

Power to the Pedals:
"The P.R.O. Leader v4. Ligher than light, stiffer than stiff, 5-millimeter stack height. These are not your average velo kicks", shared the company.

Made to Lead:
"We never invent for the sake of inventing. We innovate to learn. To push boundaries. To build greater products. After years of collaborating with several Pro Tour riders and hundreds of product testers, the P.R.O. Leader shoe has evolved to maintain podium level function while providing exceptional comfort. Version 4 is the result of these refinements. Lead the pack to the finish line wearing a semi-custom fit and feel with maximal power transfer and breathability", explained Pearl Izumi.

Fit for Feet:
"Our lightest, stiffest and most breathable shoe, the P.R.O. Leader v4 features groundbreaking technology top to bottom. The high-tech seamless upper minimizes pressure points by eliminating all stitching. An asymetrical closure places dual IP-1 Boa reels slightly off-center to avoid sensitive areas on top of the foot. The sole and upper are joined using a unique unibody construction to deliver a super low 5mm stack height for a powerful pedal stroke. Electroplating provides an unexpected flash of color to the bottom of this high performance shoe", they added.

Less is More:
"Cycling shoes, and most shoes, have been built in the same way for a long time. Essentially the upper of the shoe is glued onto the sole using a piece of cardboard like material called a lasting board. When we developed the P.R.O. Leader III we introduced a new process called Unibody Construction, where we attached the upper directly to the sole, eliminating the lasting board. This pulled out 1.5mm stack height, moving the foot closer to the pedal, with no downside." - Mike, Footwear Global Category Manager

Key Fratures:
  • Advanced 3-Layer Seamless Composite Upper
  • New 1:1 Zero Distraction Upper Fit
  • Zonal Bi-directional closure
  • Double Boa IP1 reels
  • 1:1 Integrated Carbon Power Plate
